International Equities Research

I've been getting lots of calls from International Equities Research. It's unusual to receive sales calls as our number is registered with the Telephone Preference Service. When I get calls like this, I generally try to get details (caller, company, address, phone number, etc.) for two reasons. Firstly, it breaks the salesperson's patter (they sometimes hang up on me!) and secondly, the details are needed to report a call to the Telephone Preference Service. Anyway, International Equities Research is based in Cheshire, the Caribbean or India, depending which call you believe.

To cut a long story short, I agreed to receive the free International Equities Research newsletter for three months but I stated that I was unwilling to invest £1000 or more with a company that calls me out of the blue and that wont even give an honest answer about their location. I am still waiting with great anticipation for their newsletter. Apparently, equities are half-price at the moment in Wall Street and there are great bargains to be had.

I can see an interesting story developing here so I decided to set up this site. My advice to anyone being called by International Equities Research is not to send any money. I will be adding a guestbook for any comments you might like to add (in the meantime, a temporary email address for comments is ier@78b.com). I may well edit any comments and incorporate them into the body of the site. Inappropriate comments will be deleted and reported to the poster's ISP.

Anyone looking for investment advice could do worse than read the Investors Chronicle (available weekly at larger newsagents). All purchases and sales of UK equities should be done through a broker who is registered with the London Stock Exchange. Under no circumstances should you send money to a pressure telephone salesperson for an investment you do not fully understand. There have been cases in the past where such salespeople have sold high-risk investments with extortionate charges using pressure techniques. Legislation has considerably reduced the incidence of this scam.

Watch this space to see how the International Equities Research story develops.
